With this one, I decided to use one of the foam dremel bug bodies I have created and make a popper that resembles a frog. <br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for the popper fly, which are pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: stinger or aberdeen hook</li><br /> <li>Thread: yellow or to match body</li><br /> <li>Tail: soft feather tips</li><br /> <li>Body: shaped foam</li><br /> <li>Hackle: to match body / tail</li><br /> </ul><br /> You may have noticed that there are many popper / slider bodies in the picture. I make a few with my Dremel tool each time I am using the grill.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/02.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/03.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/04.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> After gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise and get the tying thread started on the hook. When getting ready to start the thread, I have found that the best place to start is right behind where the popper body will end, so I measure where to get it started.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/05.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/05.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/05.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> There is a lot of flexibility when choosing the tailing materials for a popper. Pretty much it should represent, in some way, whatever the popper is supposed to be. In this case I am starting with a few strands of flash material.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/06.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/06.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/06.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> I next chose to tie in a pair of grizzly hackle tips. I am showing here that I will be tying them in with the curved sides pointed out to represent frogs legs.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/07.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/07.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/07.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> I tied them in, one on each side of the hook right at the bend. You can see the flash better in this view.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/08.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/08.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/08.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> I then tied in a bright green feather on each side. These were brighter than I wanted so I only used one on each side.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/09.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/09.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/09.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Then I tied in two feathers per side of more of a olive green to tone down the bright green and the grizzly.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/10.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/10.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/10.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> I then tied in one of the bright green feathers for the hackle to be palmered over the tie-down area for the tail materials. I tied it in by the tip after stroking the feather barbs backwards and trimming the tip.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/11.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/11.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Palmer the hackle forward and tie it off in front of the teil tie-down area.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/12.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/12.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/12.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap a layer of thread up the hook shank and tie off the thread. I use a couple fo half hitches, but a whip finish works also.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/13.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/13.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/13.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> I then colored the body to resemble a frog. In this case a leopard frog. (No, I am definitely no artist!)<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/14.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/14.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/14.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Then coat the hook where the body goes with some super glue or head cement or whatever you want to use.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/15.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/15.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/15.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Position the body on the hook. You have to work somewhat quickly as super glue dries rather quickly.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/16.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/16.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/16.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Add some stick on eyes. I also like to coat them with some glue to make sure they stick really well.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/17.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/17.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/17.jpg" width="320" height="240"></a><br /> <br /><br /> Completed Fly.<br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/18.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/18.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/18.jpg" width="320" height="240"></a><br /> <br /><br /> Top view of Fly.<br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('popper/19.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/19.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/popper/19.jpg" width="320" height="240"></a><br /> <br /><br /> Bottom view of Fly.<br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> Happy fishing!<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> Lime Trude<br /> </p>Lime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6862945303084352857.post-48375788517822116712008-03-05T10:37:00.001-06:002008-03-19T22:52:24.475-05:00Week nine -- Stayner Ducktail<style>#pup { position:absolute; z-index:200; padding: 1px; margin-left: 1px; margin-top: 1px; width: 640px; border: 0px; color: white; font-size: 0.95em;}</style><br /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.limetrude.com/scripts/browser_detect.js"></script><br /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.limetrude.com/scripts/popup.js"></script><br /> <p>This week's fly is one that I read about over on Fly Angler's Online a couple of years ago. The article about it can be found here: <a href="http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/lakes/part12.php">Stayner Ducktail.</a> At that time I printed out the article and have occasionally looked at it and thought I should tie some up and see if the minnow eating fish in my local lakes would give them a try. Since I am trying new flies this year, especially through this blog, I decided it was time to get this one tied. I am hoping that as the ice comes off the crappie and bass and bigger gills will find them irresistable. <br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger It is not. It is an old fly that is meant to immitate the flies that live on, in, and around the substance for which they are named. The general idea was that if there were cattle close by the fishing area, these would be present and available for food. I think they serve admirably as a standard fly immitation. I also really enjoy the winged wets that others tie and some day hope to be as good as they are. This is my first 'public' attempt. It is not beautiful, but I am hoping it will bring in some fish once the ice is gone.<br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('cowdung/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for the CowDung fly, which are pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Wet Fly Hook.</li><br /> <li>Thread: Brown or to Match Body</li><br /> <li>Body: Olive Floss</li><br /> <li>Beard: Dark or Mottled Hackle Fibers</li><br /> <li>Wing: Matched Pair of Duck Flight Feather Slips</li><br /> </ul><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('cowdung/02.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('cowdung/03.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> After gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise and get the tying thread started on the hook.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('cowdung/04.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> First, tie in the floss on the shank above the barb of the hook. Then wrap the thread toward the head making a tapered underbody with the thread. I do this because it is easier to make it smooth using thread than using extra layers of floss. (Yes, this one is not real smooth. I was having troube seeing it with the camera between me and it.)<br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('cowdung/05.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/05.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/cowdung/05.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Next wrap the floss forward making a nicely tapered body. This lead to many points of view and opinions. One of the fly patterns that came up and was discussed was a furled worm fly. I like the looks of this fly and have wanted to give it a try for a while, so this week I have tied some Worm Flies. For the demo I am using chenille to create the worm fly, but I also tied a few using other materials to demonstrate different looks and to see what the bass like. I hope they work for the bass when it gets warm enough to try.<br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for the worm fly, which are pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Streamer Fly Hook.</li><br /> <li>Thread: To Match Body</li><br /> <li>Tail: Furled Body Material</li><br /> <li>Body: Chenille, Thread, Yarn, or Other Material</li><br /> <li>Hackle: (Optional) To modify and adjust the action of the fly</li><br /> </ul><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/02.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/03.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> After gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise and get the tying thread started on the hook.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/04.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> First tie the chenille down to the hook shank. I tied it along the entire hook so the body is the same width.<br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/05.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/05.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/05.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Next I attach a hackle plier to the chenille at a distance twice as far from the tie in point as you want the finished tail to be. This way, once it is furled it will be the length you desire.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/06.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/06.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/06.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Twist the chenille until it starts to try to twist back on itself. Then fold the twisted chenille in half and tie it down to the hook just at the bend. Allow the twisted part to furl together into one rope to form a tail.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/07.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/07.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/07.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Next form a body by wrapping the chenille forward. I wrapped over a part of the hook twice to make a part of it thicker.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/08.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/08.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/08.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Finally wrap a nice head and whip finish. <br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/09.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/09.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/09.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Cement the head and call it done.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/10.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/10.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/10.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> This one I tied using a purple shoelace type material that had some sparkle type netting around it.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('worm/11.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/worm/11.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> This one uses some thread with mixed green and brown and yellow fibers. It was quite interesting to see some other people tie. We were able to get Ward Bean from <a href="http://www.warmwaterflytyer.com/">www.warmwaterflytyer.com</a> to come and show us some of his flies. One of the flies that he tied was the Beaner's Baitfish, and it looks like a great pattern. Since it is his pattern, I will not tie it, but it is somewhat similar to the Seaducer. I have liked the Seaducer, so I chose it for this week. Hope you like it. The Bass seem to.<br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for the Seaducer, which are pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Streamer Fly Hook.</li><br /> <li>Thread: Red</li><br /> <li>Tail: White Hen Hackle</li><br /> <li>Body: White Hen Hackle</li><br /> <li>Front Hackle: Red Hen Hackle</li><br /> </ul><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/02.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/03.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> After gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise and get the tying thread started on the hook.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/04.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Align the tips of three or four hen feathers and get them ready to tie in. I elected to use long feathers, but you can either use a few of them or many shorter feathers. The important part is that they have soft barbels and they are pretty much the same length along the whole feather.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/08.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/08.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/08.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap that feather forward as far as you can and tie it off. Then wrap the thread back to angle the feather fibers backwards a bit.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/09.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/09.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/09.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Tie in another feather by the tip and repeat the above process until you get to the front of the body.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/10.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/10.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/10.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> When you have gone through those steps until there is room for just a few more wraps of feather, tie off the white body feathers. I used some long feathers and only had to use three to get to this point.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/11.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/11.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Next tie in a red hen feather by the tip and prepare to wrap it forward for two or three turns.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('seaducer/12.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/12.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/seaducer/12.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Take two to three turns with the red feather and tie it off. When this is stripped through the water the feathers become more streamlined and when it stops they spread out creating a nice swimming motion and moving a lot of water. It catches the attention of other fish quite well. Tie one up and give it a try.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> Lime Trude<br /> </p>Lime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6862945303084352857.post-75708154476256237122008-02-03T20:08:00.000-06:002008-02-04T09:19:02.339-06:00Week 5 -- Jig Fly<style>#pup { position:absolute; z-index:200; padding: 1px; margin-left: 1px; margin-top: 1px; width: 640px; border: 0px; color: white; font-size: 0.95em;}</style><br /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.limetrude.com/scripts/browser_detect.js"></script><br /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.limetrude.com/scripts/popup.js"></script><br /> <p>Well, even though it has been very cold and almost all of the water close by is covered by a thick layer of ice, I was able to find some open water on this last monday and actually caught some fish. One of the flies that I used is one that I patterned after a jig that a gentleman was using to great success one day while I fished close by. It had a pink body and a white tail. Not too tough, I just used the materials I had on hand and used a micro jig hook (1/80th of an ounce) so it would be easy to cast with a fly rod.<br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for this micro jig, which are pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Micro jig hook. (I selected a 1/80th oz hook for this.)</li><br /> <li>Thread: Red</li><br /> <li>Tail: White marabou</li><br /> <li>Body: Pink sparkle chenille type material</li><br /> <li>Front Hackle: Soft brown hackle</li><br /> </ul><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/02.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/03.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> After gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise and get the tying thread started on the hook.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/04.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Notice that I have stopped the thread right above the barb of the hook. This is the tie in point for the tail<br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/05.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/05.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/05.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Measure the tail length so that it is approximately the same length as the hook shank.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/06.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/06.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/06.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Tie in the tail and clip off the extra material. It is good to leave some of the marabou covering the hook shank to give the body a little bulk.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/07.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/07.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/07.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Tie in the chenille and wrap the thread up to just behind the jig head. One thing I should explain here is the body material that I am using. If you look at the materials picture, there is a pen there with this body material (as well as som purple) wrapped around it. I found this at a Scholastic Book sale a couple of years ago. When I unwind the chenille from the pen it is in great shape and ready to use. It also is very well made chenille. The center 'rope' of the chenille is woven with the sparkle bits being part of the weave, unlike some sparkle chenille I have seen where the center is just twisted string with the sparkle twisted between the fibers. This is much longer lasting.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/08.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/08.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/08.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Just behind the jig head, tie in the soft brown hackle with the concave side facing up. This will help to have the hackle sweep backwards when the fly is finished. In this image you can get a better look at the chenille material.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/09.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/09.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/09.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap the chenille up the hook shank and tie it in just behind the jig head. Clip off the extra chenille and make a couple of extra wraps to hold it tight.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/10.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/10.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/10.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap the hackle around the hook shank in two or three wraps to give a fairly thin, soft hackle that will give a lot of motion in the water as the fly moves. Tie it in and clip off the extra feather. Make a few wraps with the thread toward the back of the fly to help sweep the hackle backwards and tie off the thread with a whip finish or a couple of half hitches or however you finish your flies.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/11.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/11.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Clip off the thread and add head cement and you are finished.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/11.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/11.jpg" width="320" height="240"></a><br /> <br /><br /> Completed Fly.<br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/12.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/12.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/12.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <br /><br /> Top View.<br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('Jig/13.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/13.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/Jig/13.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <br /><br /> Bottom View.<br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> Well, now I hope the temperature rises a bit again so I can go play with my little finned friends in the water. I figured that if it looked like something that a trout would eat, most likely the fish in my neighborhood would take it for food also. It is tied quite thin to sink fairly quickly without adding weight besides the hook. I hope you enjoy it and that you can also catch some fish with it.<br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('FandA/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/FandA/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/FandA/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for the Olive Fore and Aft, which are pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Wet Fly Hook. Someone posted an image of a wasp with no recipe on the <a href="http://www.flyanglersonline.com"> FAOL</a> bulletin board a couple of years ago and I printed out the thread. I have tied it and used it to catch some warm water species since then. I also like the way it looks, so I decided to include it.<br /> </p><br /> <p>Let me know what you think.</p><br /> <p>(Click Images for a larger version.)</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/01.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/01.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/01.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The first step is to gather the materials required for the Wasp Fly, which are <br /> Pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Dry Fly hook. (I selected a size 10 for this.)</li><br /> <li>Thread: To Match (I chose Black.)</li><br /> <li>Body: Yellow and Black Foam</li><br /> <li>Wing: Feather tips (Left over from wrapping hackle. I keep a small pile of these on my desk.)</li><br /> <li>Hackle: Coachman Brown Dry Hackle</li><br /> </ul><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/02.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/03.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> After Gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise and get the tying thread started on the hook.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/04.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap the thread to the bend of the hook and create a dubbing loop. This loop will be used as the 'rib' on the body, so having two strands of thread will give it a thicker look.</p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/05.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/05.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/05.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> The yellow foam I selected for the body was a popsickle shaped piece I found at a craft store. I cut it in half to have a thinner piece to work with. Tie it onto the hook covering the area for this part of the body. (Covering all of the abdomen with this will give you an even body shape.)<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/06.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/06.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/06.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap the foam forward and tie it off.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/07.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/07.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/07.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Counter wrap the 'dubbing loop' up the body in open turns. So, if you wrapped the foam away from you as you wrapped it forward, wrap the thread rib toward you as you wrap it forward.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/08.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/08.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/08.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Tie in the hackle tips for wings. For this one I have selected white tips, I also use brown or grizzly tips. It just depends on what I have 'available' and like at the time.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/09.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/09.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/09.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Clip off the extra feather bits. At this point I do not know what else I could use them for, so I toss them.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/10.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/10.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/10.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Tie in the hackle. I usually use brown for this from an old Indian hackle bit that I got with my original fly tying kit. This hacle is more for legs than to support the fly, so the choice of feather used is really not that important. Use whatever you have available.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/11.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/11.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Wrap the hackle forward and tie off. I also trim the hackle on the top of the hook so that the next step is easier, but that is up to you.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/12.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/12.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/12.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Lay a piece of black foam on top of the front third of the hook and tie it down. I usually try to cut this so it is 1/4 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. Make sure that when you are tying it down you don't trap the legs with the thread. End by moving the thread to just behind the hook eye.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/13.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/13.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/13.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Pull the black foam forward and tie it down just behind the eye of the hook.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/14.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/14.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/14.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Trip the black foam and whip finish to complete the fly.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/16.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/16.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/16.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Completed Top view.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/17.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/17.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/17.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /> <br /><br /> Completed Bottom View.<br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a onmouseover="popup('wasp/15.jpg')" onmouseout="kill()" title="" onfocus="this.blur()" href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/15.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/wasp/15.jpg" width="320" height="240"></a><br /> </div><br /> </p><br /> <p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> Completed Fly.<br /> </div><br /> </p>Lime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6862945303084352857.post-77038424999471238122008-01-04T15:03:00.000-06:002008-01-11T11:23:04.008-06:00Week One Fly<p>Here is the first Fly a Week entry!<br /></p><br /><p>Well, I have completed the first week's Fly. Hope you like it! It could be better, but I am hoping my skills will improve as the year progresses.<br /><br />I have chosen for the first fly, the Lime Trude. I chose this because I like the pattern and the way the fly looks. It has been a favorite pattern for a long time. It is also one that is not seen too often.<br /><br />Hope you enjoy it.<br /></p><br /><p><em>(Click Images for a larger version.)</em></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/02.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/02.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br />The first step is to gather the materials required for the Lime Trude Fly, which are Pictured above and as follows:<br /> <ul><br /> <li>Hook: Dry Fly hook. (I selected a size 12 for this.)</li><br /> <li>Thread: To Match (I chose Brown.)</li><br /> <li>Tail: Golden Pheasant Neck Feathers</li><br /> <li>Body: Lime Colored Material (I chose floss.)</li><br /> <li>Wing: White Bucktail Fibers</li><br /> <li>Hackle: Coachman Brown Dry Hackle</li><br /> </ul><br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/03.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/03.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />After Gathering your materials you will need to mount the hook to be used in the vise.</p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/04.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/04.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Start your thread on the hook at the point where you want to end the body.</p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/05.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/05.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Select a few fibers from the Golden Pheasant feather and tie them in leaving the tail about as long as the hook shank.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/06.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/06.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Tie in the body material where the hook just begins to start into the bend.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/07.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/07.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Wrap a tapered body by wrapping it on thicker as you progress forward to where the body will end. Be careful to leave room for the wing, hackle and head. (I crowded the eye quite a bit on this particular fly. Mainly because the floss broke off twice while I was wrapping the body and I had to get it restarted.)<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/08.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/08.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Cut a small bundle of straight bucktail fibers and stack them to even the tips. Then tie them in where you tied off the body material. I like the wing to extend a little beyond the hook bend.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/09.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/09.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Select a hackle feather where the barbs are a bit longer than the hook gap and tie it in with the shiny side facing the back of the hook. (In the above image the shiny side is facing away from you.)<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/10.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/10.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Wrap the hackle forward a few turns and tie it off. Clip off the extra length of feather.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/11.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/11.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Build a small head and whip finish.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/12.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/12.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Completed Top view.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/13.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/13.jpg" width="213" height="160"></a><br /> </div><br /><br /><br />Completed Bottom View.<br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> <a href="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/14.jpg"><img src="http://www.limetrude.com/picz/lt/14.jpg" width="320" height="240"></a><br /> </div><br /></p><br /><p><br /> <div align="center"><br /> Completed Fly.<br /> </div><br /></p>Lime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6862945303084352857.post-59479037897099176802007-12-31T21:42:00.000-06:002008-01-04T12:06:02.083-06:00Building the fly listWell, I found the fly pattern book that I was looking for. Along the way I also found a large pile of fly information that I have printed out over the years. Many of the ones that I found were step-by-step instructions, so I will not be tying most of those this year. Why should I copy someone else's instructions when there are many patterns that I like that do not have step-by-step instructions available. Thus, I am going to mostly stick to patterns that I like that are not readily available in this same format.<br /><br />There will be a few favorites, however, that are available on other sites, mainly because I really like them and use them.<br /><br />Anyway, look back at the 'Flies' post to see the list as it now stands and as it grows over time.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Lime TrudeLime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6862945303084352857.post-32972693896393283592007-12-25T22:59:00.000-06:002008-01-04T15:08:18.475-06:00Flies?Well, I was hoping that I would be able to get a list of flies I am planning on tying together by now, but, well, as usual, the Christmas season has acted to keep this from happening. I have decided on a few of the flies. I am going to tie a wasp pattern, a Crappie Candy, and a Cow Dung as a part of the year, but I am not sure which other ones I will decide on.<br /><br />Part of it is that I am unable to find a pattern book that I bought a number of years ago. I don't want to just redo the flies that you can find all over the place, but it seems that this is getting more and more difficult as the web grows. I hope that some of the flies I tie do not show up all over the place, but then I DO have my favorites! :-)<br /><br /><ul><br /><li>Lime Trude</li><br /><li>Wasp</li><br /><li>Crappie Candy</li><br /><li>Cow Dung</li><br /><li>Fore and Aft</li><br /><li>Gill Gumdrops</li><br /><li>Brooks Stone</li><br /><li>Stayner Ducktail</li><br /><li>Henryville Special</li><br /><li>Picket Pin</li><br /><li>Alder</li><br /><li>Diawl Bach</li><br /><li>Deerfield Special</li><br /><li>Grizzly King</li><br /><li>Sea Ducer</li><br /><li>Latex Pupa</li><br /><li>Renegade</li><br /><li>Faux Beadhead Hare's Ear</li><br /><li>Trude Style Royal Coachman</li><br /><li>Sawyer Pheasant Tail Nymph</li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /><li></li><br /></ul><br /><br />Hope you visit often!<br /><br />Lime TrudeLime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6862945303084352857.post-23477150025501336412007-12-17T16:20:00.000-06:002007-12-17T16:30:50.615-06:00The BeginningIn the beginning, there was very little. Just some crazy idea about putting this together. I wanted to build my own site on my own server, but that has yet to occur. Maybe someday.<br /><br />There are a lot of sites that have a 'new' fly each week posted. I decided that I wanted to do something like that, but more often. I thought 'Fly a Day'! Great! That would be awesome! Then I realized how much time it would take to not only tie 365 flies in 2008, but to photogragh each step and get it all posted up here. I decided that a 'Fly a Week' would work much better. Hopefully I can keep up.<br /><br />Mainly, this is for me. I will be including links to where I found the recipe. Following these links will possibly/probably show you a better example of the fly, but I hope that you come back to see what I am tying.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Lime TrudeLime Trudehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07528040612299783261noreply@blogger.com0
